In the Still of the Night
May 7, the first clear night in months. I took the opportunity to head for the everglades and try to photograph the Milky Way. Just after 1 a.m. I found myself at Long Pine Lake, alone with out a sound or a breath of air. And there it was--the Milky Way lighting the southern sky. The site was stunning. I was looking at a painted sky created by the ultimate master. I just stood in awe. I settled on a 12 exposure composite panorama to capture the entire scene as it was unveiled before me. When I finished I just sat on a rock and marveled at the wonders of the universe. It was the most perfect night I have even spent in the 'glades.
